PUC Services Inc. (PUC) operates multiple utilities within and around the City of Sault Ste. Marie, including the supply, treatment and distribution of municipal drinking water, the supply of electricity, and the operation of wastewater treatment facilities.

Reporting to the Manager, Innovation and Technology, the Network Administrator will be responsible for all aspects of the network infrastructure with a strong focus on standardization of process and technology to drive operational efficiency, scalability and security.  

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all network infrastructure including firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, WIFI, network cloud connectivity including, virtual routing architecture, design for cloud and configuration.
  • Lead technical projects by providing network architecture, design, planning, coordinating implementations, and documentation.
  • Participate in developing a target state architecture and defining a strategy for the technical direction of network architecture.
  • Evaluate network resiliency, support, and maintain network and security solutions both on premises and in public/private clouds.
  • Analyze network products and technologies and make recommendations to influence technical direction.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • At minimum, bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Ten years of progressive experience in IT Networking experience.
  • Cisco CCNP, CCIE preferred.
  • Network L2 switching with VLANs, STP, vPC, LACP.
  • Network L3 routing with OSPF, BGP, MPLS, EIGRP, etc.
  • Network Security Firewalls FortiGate, Cisco IoT, Aruba.
  • Network Security IDS/IPS, ACLs, NATs, SSL/TLS and IPSEC/SSL VPNs.
  • VPN solutions to include Site-to-Site, Multi-site, Site-to-Cloud, and client-based VPN.
  • SD-WAN Networking (FortiGate, Cisco, etc).
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms is an asset (Microsoft Azure Cloud /IBM / AWS/ Google).
  • Deep network troubleshooting analysis with a network trace/dump, Wireshark, etc.
  • Network management/monitoring tools (FortiManager, FortiOS, FortiAnalyzer, etc).
  • VMWare, Nutanix, VxRail or other HCI platform experience.
  • Working knowledge of SAN (Storage Area Network) solutions (VSAN, ISCSI).
  • Understanding of OT (Operational Technology) in an industrial/utility environment.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
