NOTICE OF VACANCY
TEMPORARY CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERK/ COLLECTION CLERK (6 MONTHS)

PUC Services Inc. operates multiple utilities within and around the City of Sault Ste. Marie, including supply and delivery of electricity, drinking water, provision of telecommunications, energy services and the treatment of water and wastewater.

 

You are the ideal candidate if you possess:

  • At minimum, a Grade 12 education with some accounting courses as well as analytical skills and relevant, verifiable working experience;
  • There is potential opportunity for advancement into other positions if the candidate has additional educational qualifications. Accordingly, preference will be given to those candidates who possess a two year community college diploma in Office Administration or Accounting;
  • A general keyboard proficiency with a background in Window-based programs, and customer service or billing software;
  • Strong organization and time management skills to meet the daily processing schedules and deadlines while dealing with regular work interruptions;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative;
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

 

Your duties will include:

  • Answer customer inquiries including routine technical inquiries (written, verbal and emails)  in person, by telephone or by mail.  This includes such things as re-reads, high bills, cut-ins/cut-outs, payment arrangements, government policy and legislation, etc.;
  • Contact appropriate department personnel to investigate customer problems and follow up to ensure action has been taken;
  • Maintain customer account information files with updated billing or payment information;
  • Adhere to all applicable policies, guidelines, procedures, regulations and standards as prescribed by legislation and the company;
  • Perform simple mathematical calculations;
  • Interact with staff, public, external agencies in a manner that shall result in positive outcomes and actions.
