SUPERVISOR, WATER TREATMENT OPERATIONS

PUC Services Inc. operates multiple utilities within and around the City of Sault Ste. Marie, including the supply and delivery of electricity and drinking water, energy services and the treatment of water and wastewater.

You are the ideal candidate if you possess:

  • the proper mix of post-secondary education, work experience, computer and organizational skills and have proven team leadership experience.
  • post-secondary education in a related field and certification in Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment Technology with related supervisory experience in a municipal water treatment environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, with good working knowledge of other applications such as Access, Microsoft Project, and Enterprise software systems (Springboard and Cayenta) preferred coupled with project management and reporting abilities will ensure a smooth and coordinated operation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Provincial and Federal regulations pertaining to water and wastewater systems, including DWQMS
  • The successful candidate must obtain and hold a valid Class G driver's license.

As a Supervisor, Water Treatment Operations the primary responsibilities of this position are as follows:

  • providing support to the department Manager in coordinating and managing operations, maintenance and administration of water treatment systems under the direction of PUC Services Inc.
  • preparing reports for legislative and contract purposes.
  • monitoring health and safety compliance, overseeing and assessing operations and maintenance activities, contributing to development of short/long term plans.
  • monitoring employee performance, coordinating inventory needs, identifying and evaluating maintenance needs, major repairs and capital requirements, providing guidance to group leaders in day to day supervisory matters and scheduling work for operators.
  • lead a staff of certified operators who are dedicated to meeting today’s and the future’s quality standards along with employing the best practices of the industry.
  • required to attain and hold certification as a Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment Operator, to the level of the systems served.
